Even when coronavirus restrictions prevented the Afrika Festival in Hertme from taking place in 2021, there was still an opportunity to help. The festival and Hart voor Tanzania decided to bring together their commitment to Africa. Our project’s cookbook was offered through the festival’s online shop.
The two-day festival has taken place at Hertme’s open-air theatre since 1989, bringing people together through music and conversation. In spring 2021, those encounters could not happen in the usual way. The cookbook nevertheless offered a way to introduce the project to festival supporters.
Two kitchens and a shared aim
The cookbook connects food from Tanzania and Twente. It suited a partnership bringing together an interest in Africa and practical support. Sales were intended to contribute to the proposed heart and vascular clinic in Moshi.
