Volunteers packing a container for Moshi at ZGT in Almelo received a special visitor on 24 January 2020. Tanzania’s ambassador, Irene Kasyanju, came to see the work of Hart voor Tanzania and ZGT Overzee. Her visit recognised the contribution being made from Twente.
A container of useful equipment
Beds, mattresses, cabinets and other hospital supplies were prepared for shipment to KCMC. They had been taken out of service in the Netherlands but could still be used in Tanzania. Volunteers collected and loaded the equipment.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the proposed heart and vascular clinic. Salah Said described fundraising and the wish to move construction preparations forward. The clinic was intended to provide facilities for investigating and treating conditions in children and adults.
The visit connected practical tasks with the wider ambition. Packing a container means checking equipment, carrying it and loading it carefully. The ambassador’s interest showed that this work was appreciated in Tanzania. Construction expectations in the original report reflect the position in January 2020.
