Before the working visit to Moshi in November 2019, Salah Said spoke to RTV Oost about funding the planned heart clinic. He estimated that around two million euros was still needed. Interest in the project and donated equipment provided a start, but construction required further support.
Preparing the next step together
A delegation of clinicians, technicians and building specialists was preparing to leave for KCMC. There, they would work with the hospital on the proposed building and the first-stone ceremony. Reporters Hans Bellert and Teun van der Velden travelled with the group to follow the project.
The plans extended beyond construction. Hospitals in Overijssel were sending usable beds and equipment to Tanzania. Training Tanzanian staff was also part of the ambition, helping the hospital develop care in Moshi.
The figure quoted is an estimate from October 2019, rather than a current budget or remaining fundraising target. As an archive story, it records the question facing the team: how could equipment, expertise and financial support provide a sound basis for moving the clinic forward?
